What is Reiki?
Reiki is a system of natural energy healing, meditation and spiritual connection which has been in use for many thousands of years. Practiced by many ancient peoples and cultures, Reiki was rediscovered and developed by Buddhist scholar Mikao Usui, in Japan in the 1920s.
Rei translates to spirit or universe, and Ki to energy or life force, Reiki is commonly translated to universal life force energy, and is the energy which permeates the entire universe – the spiritual energy flowing through all of life, as well as the practice of using it.
This gentle yet powerful method of energy healing encourages deep relaxation, frees mental and emotional blockages, and increases the vibrational frequency of the body.
It operates on the quantum level to harmonise mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual energies creating a sense of profound peace on all levels. It is the energy of truth – of our origin – which is oneness.

What a treatment involves
The session begins with a short medical consultation (all information provided will remain confidential). You will also be required to sign a consent form. Shorter follow up consultations lasting only a few minutes will be completed at each subsequent session to obtain feedback.
During a treatment you will remain fully clothed, and will be invited to lie back in comfort, upon a large massage couch beneath a cosy blanket to enjoy your reiki experience.
With gentle music playing softly in the background to induce a deeply peaceful and meditative state, hands will be gently placed intuitively in positions upon the body (with permission, reiki can also be delivered using a non-touch technique if preferred). Reiki energy flows through the channel (hands) of the attuned practitioner dispelling and healing energy blockages, whilst rebalancing and aligning the chakras.
Reiki is intelligent energy and flows naturally to the area of the body where it is most needed. When in a relaxed state, the body opens-up to the inherent healing abilities within and is more conducive to receiving reiki energy. No two treatment experiences will be the same.
Reiki energy may be experienced with differing effects such as a floating sensation, increased warmth or coolness felt across the body, tingling sensations, colours or a release of emotions, some experience no feelings or sensations at all and this is fine too, whatever your experience be assured that reiki energy is at work where needed.
When your treatment is complete, you will be gently roused to the sound of beautiful Tibetan chimes and offered a short period to recover with a glass of water to aid your body with cleansing following the treatment.
A few minutes will be taken to discuss your treatment and aftercare advice or recommendation for a treatment plan may be suggested.
Reiki for children of all ages
The beneficial effects of Reiki for children are numerous. It aids fear and anxiety and promotes feelings of safety, calmness and a healthy sense of wellbeing. Reiki can also aid with the development of self-confidence, the ability to socialise and interact with others, as well as improving learning ability and the ability to cope with academic stresses. Reiki can be used as a universal solution to many childhood difficulties!
Children who receive reiki often, are more open and caring toward others and benefit from the knowledge that there is something beautiful within which can help to heal and provide guidance during difficult times.
All children (regardless of age) require time to adjust before a treatment. Each session is allocated an hour in order to allow the child to settle and work at their own pace.
Treatment length varies from child to child and will only last for as long as appropriate for each individual child, their condition (if any) and the child’s enjoyment of the treatment. Some children will happily lie for up to 40 minutes, whilst for others, a few minutes of focussed treatment may be extremely effective and enough.
Parents and carers are invited to sit back, relax and observe the wonders of reiki from the comfort of a calm and tranquil space whilst their child enjoys the experience
*Reiki is completely safe during pregnancy for both the mother to be and the unborn child, it may even assist to better tolerate the experience of childbirth.
Distant Reiki Healing
Distance Reiki is a technique within the system of Reiki that enables you to give or receive a healing session beyond the limitations of time and space. It expands the practitioner’s ability to transmit spiritual energy beyond physical touch.
Ultimately it is a way to offer and receive reiki without being present in the same room. Distant Reiki offers intensely powerful heart centred healing to promote optimum physical, spiritual and emotional health.
Reiki Drum
Drum therapy is an ancient approach that uses rhythm to promote healing and self-expression. Throughout history, some sounds have come to be regarded as sacred and healing, the drumbeat being one of these.
A fusion of reiki and drumming creates the Reiki Drum Technique, a method of utilising the sound waves from the drum to introduce reiki energy more deeply into a person’s energetic field to facilitate deep relaxation
